The Lowdown On Lube

When your mind is in the gutter but your body just doesn’t seem to be on the same street, it’s time to break out the lube! Lubricants are Matilda’s gift to getting things wetter, saucier and just downright pleasurable! Toyfluid is one of the best you could possibly find. There are a myriad of sex lubes on the market, we stock products which will warm you up, get your nethers tingling and your tongue relishing the taste of something sweet and tempting.

There will be times when you just can’t seem to get wet enough for some raunchy penetration and this is mostly due to stress, medication and birth control pills. Adding lube to the situation turns your body around and before you know it, you will be well on your way to heaven. Lubricants do more than just get things wetter; they can be stimulating through taste (flavoured lubricants) and feel (warming and tingling) and will certainly enhance your play time. As we’ve preached before, anal lube is an absolute essential when it comes to anal play. These are available as a lubricant and anal sprays. The wetter, the better!

It’s imperative to note that lubes aren’t just great for an incredible sack race; lubes prevent dryness and chafing and water based lubes will reduce any chance of condom breakage. For those of you, who aren’t great fans of oral sex, try out the flavoured lubes for a bit of encouragement. These are available in cherry, pina-colada, chocolate and virtually every other fruity cocktail imaginable!

Oil, silicone and water based lubricants

Lubes are generally made of silicone, oil, petroleum and or water, the latter being the most common. We recommend that you leave your cooking (olive oils, whipped cream etc) and beauty products (lotions and potions) out of the “home grown lube” equation and that you rather stick to a product designed exclusively for sex!

The A-Z of Lube

Oil:
Unless it’s a STI or an unplanned pregnancy you’re after, we suggest that you steer clear of oil based products which will degrade latex condoms. Oil based products usually include Vaseline, various oils as well as hand and body creams. For men, oil based lubes are a viable masturbation or massage choice. Women however, would do best to avoid oil based lubes during sex as the oils can create an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, which extends to the surface of your sex toys. This is attributed to the fact that it is a little tricky to wash oil lube away.

Silicone
Ideal for some naughty behaviour in the spa bath or shower, silicone based lubes are absolutely ideal for some aqua-sex! As with oil lube, we recommend that our ladies be careful, but do note that unlike the oil based lube, silicone will not degrade a condom making it a much safer. Silicone based lubes are also fantastic for those who may suffer with glycerine allergies.

Water:
Sold just about anywhere, water based lubes have become the most popular choice. Hugely beneficial to note is that water based lubes will not degrade condoms, is super easy to wash off and will not stain those satin sheets!
