Flappers, underground liquor halls and a whole lotta freedom encouraged women to fight for their rights. The Twenties bred a new generation of artists and writers searching for the meaning to life which was often found at the bottom of a whiskey bottle.

The 1920's were a particularly revolutionary time for fashion - lingerie design in particular. Nighties and negligees started to reveal a hint of the ankles while lace and silk were commonly used to create  glamorous and seductive silohuettes. Dropped waists and low cut necklines allowed women to burst free from the previously restrained sexuality of a tight corseted look of the Victorian era. The loose fitting shape of the '20s hid a naughty secret that reflected the age - flappers found a nifty way to sneak forbidden alcohol into parties by means of a sexy garter flask that allowed them to smuggle a small flask of illicit moonshine - plenty of tricks up those skirts!
